Nigel Pegrum

Nigel Pegrum is the sole director and owner of Pegasus Studios (NQ) Pty Ltd in Cairns nigel@pegasusstudios.com.au and he has been making and producing music for 50 years.

In the UK he was a member of early line ups of bands that have become part of rock music history. He has been awarded five gold and seven silver albums, and toured the world for 18 years with UK folk rockers Steeleye Span. Since 1975 has run record companies, video production facilities and recording studios.

Emigrating with his Australian wife and two children, Nigel arrived in Australia in 1992, setting up his own recording studio in Cairns FNQ.

He has since engineered and produced over 150 CD’s which have received ARIA nominations on six occasions and twice winning the ‘World Music’ category for his work with Torres Strait Islander singer, Seaman Dan (Henry Dan AM - Member of the Order of Australia)

Nigel has worked extensively with Indigenous artists from Cape York, the Northern Territory and throughout the Torres Strait, both in commercial music production and archiving traditional music and oral histories, as well as TV talent contest winners and Cairns region musicians.

He has created music for film and TV, stage plays and public and corporate events and has received awards for his work in both the TV and Radio industries, as well as Blues and Relaxation/ Meditation genres and school music projects.

A recent ‘New Age’ production narrowly missed out on being nominated for a Grammy in the USA.

Nigel is known as a workaholic and suffers from being a perfectionist!!

He tackles each and every project with boundless enthusiasm, energy and a drive to make them great!!
